Six current Bristol players have made the GB Senior Women’s Baseball roster for a 10 day July tour of Canada.

Becky Cottrell, Kat Golik, Niamh Cogley-Rock, Jess Hastings, Laura Hirai and Dani Briggs who have represented all of Bristol’s senior teams, are part of a 23 strong team who will take on local Canadian teams during their visit.

The tour is part of the team’s preparations for the WBSC European Championships in 2025. GB Women made their debut at the 2022 edition of the tournament beating the Czech Republic 27-10 in their first game.

“We are absolutely delighted that the six players have made this roster and will represent both the country and the club in Canada,” said club chairman Rhodri Theaker. “Their selection is a testament to the commitment and hard work they have put in over the last 18 months and the whole club wishes them every success.”

The players will be based in Toronto and playing teams from the Quebec and Ontario Women’s Baseball Leagues over the course of the 10 days.

“Its great have such a good representation from the club on the trip which will be an important part of our preparations for the 2025 European Championships,” said Niamh Cogley-Rock, who currently plays for the Bristol Buccaneers. “We are all committed to working as hard as possible and learning from the experience so that we are ready for the challenge next year.”
